Konjac Sponge… WHERE Have You Been ALL My Life?!! (Skin Health) *Giveaway

I don’t know why I never knew that these amazing sponges even existed!  While reading up on beauty products the “Konjac Sponge” came in to my news feed and read such great things about it that I had to see it for myself.

I wear full makeup just about every day and most especially when I do my blog fashion shoots/review a few times a week.  My skin has always been a sore subject since I can remember – very sensitive, childhood acne, large pores, super dry patches that bleed when the weather is very dry and polluted.  I have tried every skin treatment imaginable and some worked and MANY didn’t.  Now that I’m hitting 40 – I can’t believe this milestone – I am always open to try new things and see if it will bring PEACE to my battle in my own skin health.  So here’s my latest weapon to add to my artillery!
Every morning and night I wash my face and usually use a makeup remover and my hands to do so.  The wash cloths, wipes, sponges just didn’t do the job to gain that deep down clean without irritating my skin.  As you’ve seen in my previous posts I use coffee grounds and bananas to do my weekly facials but can’t do that on the daily, I really just don’t have the time to do so.  So, when I received my sponges I was ON IT immediately.

After pricing the various sponges and sites offering them, I decided on “Bundle Monster’s” pack of 4 sponges they call the “Refresh” set.  It was the only one available at the time and it worked out great for my skin needs.  So far I’ve only used the “Bamboo Charcoal” konjac sponge.  It “controls the oilness and brings a natural glow to the skin.  Great for men’s facial cleansing…” Mwahahahahaaa!!

My first impression:
When I took this sponge out of it’s packaging I was quite skeptical.  It was as hard as a rock but read the directions and soaked it in hot water for 2-3 minutes.  It soon became soft like a marshmallow.  That’s EXACTLY what it feels like… rubbing a soft marshmallows on your face.. that powdery soft feeling you feel when you grab a sweet marshmallow… THAT’S exactly how it feels on your face.  It was so soft I was afraid my claws would rip it apart as I worked small circles all over my face and neck.

What I discovered:
It is the BEST feeling ever!  I wish I could find a BIG huge sponge to use on the rest of my body.  I kid you not, the FIRST time I used it I attacked the pores on my nose.  I rubbed tiny circles with it as if it were an eraser that would take away all the blemishes.  Do you know what happened???
This is kinda icky to share with you BUT… on the FIRST TRY… the gunk that I normally had to exfoliate with much harsher products  – came off with this soft sponge!  I was floored, and if you are following my personal Facebook page I did post a BIG WOW on that first night.

My results after 3 weeks of using this sponge:
I’ve thrown out ALL my sponges, loofah’s and even my Mexican corn husk deep scrubbing sponge that literally tore the first couple of layers off when my skin was in a state of emergency.

I use the konjac sponge all natural or add a little bit of my “camel milk soap” (view past posts on this) when my makeup is extra colorful.  Normally just wetting the konjac sponge with hot water is enough to do the job.  It leaves my skin soft and clean as well as gives it a dewy glow that lasts through the night.  In the morning it works great to make my makeup glide on even smoother than before.
My dry spots that I have had issues since my early childhood memory, are dry NO MORE!  I have made changes to my skin care these past couple of months and can’t attribute this change solely to this sponge but my skin is ever more softer and silkier than before.
The sponge doesn’t really have a smell to it.  At least not the bamboo charcoal konjac sponge that I’ve been using.  It has a string strewn through it to easily hang as it needs to dry and stay off surfaces.  Remember it’s a plant fiber and this will help give it a longer life and keep it from cultivating bacteria.  It’s also recommended to store it in the refrigerator in a baggie.  My restroom is cold during the winter and have not had any issues with it, but will plan to store it in the fridge once the warmer weather comes back.  The sponge should last a couple of months, per the manufacturer’s notes.
I also like to use this sponge semi-hard for the rougher areas on my skin.  Especially around my nose and under my chin, where I have the extreme dry spots.
The Techie Part of what “KONJAC” is:
It is a perennial  plant/herb with the full name of “Amorphophallus Konjac” that grows in the Eastern Hemisphere at 2500 meter elevations.  This plant is full of antioxidants and vitamins who’s fiber absorbs long lasting moisture and leaves a “water-locking” film on your skin.  It helps balance your skin’s PH balance and removes the toxic build up.
There various “Konjac” sponges out in the market:
While surfing the net for sales and information I have seen this sponge in various forms, colors and price range.  Sponges are infused with other products such as charcoal, green tea, aloe, bamboo, lavender  and so on and so forth.  *Please make sure it states that it is 100% Natural and that you’re not allergic to these other items being added.

Price Points:
Prices are widely scattered from $1 to $20+ for one sponge.  I found my sampler pack on Amazon but is no longer available.  I sent an email to the vendor for an ETA on when they’ll have this back in stock as it was a GREAT price for 4 sponges… it cost me about $12 shipped.  I will include links as soon as I receive a response.
It’s AMAZING and I recommend it to EVERYONE!  There is a “pure natural konjac” sponge that’s used for babies.  I’m having my children use it since they’ve sadly inherited my skin condition.  I’m hoping this helps in keeping theirs in the correct PH balance with a healther skin and not experience all the pain and horrors I have endured.
