JCPenney Summer Moments| Made By Hand Ice Cream!

JCPenney has compensated me for this post  but all experiences and opinions are my own. #Ad

As a Mom that strives to create amazing memories with my children, Summer time is deemed to be the most momentous.  The kiddos are on vacation from school and dream of all the adventures to be had.  Much time is spent in the yard playing.  In kitchen my Mom and I are cooking up a storm to keep up with the demand of hungry little hands – in my case, big teenage hands!

As I fill my refrigerator with our favorite veggies and fruits I can never compete with the ice cream truck.  It’s melody calls to all children young and old.  To help keep us on budget AND to meet my goal to offer the family low sugar and organic treats I decided to give the ice cream truck a run for their money.

I headed over to my nearest JCPenney and found the Nostalgia Electrics™ Wooden Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Maker  that looks adorable with it’s real wood slats design.  No hand churning here as it has an electric motor that does it for you and it’s very simple to use and cleaning is a sinch!

We spent a week searching for recipes and the kiddos were excited as they sent me links of the recipes they want to try.  I decided to stick to the basics and chose a family favorite – chocolate chip ice cream!  I gathered the ingredients and got to work while my kiddos uuuuhhh’d and aaaahhh’d all the way through.

This is a delicious treat that we all can take part making from recipe hunting, gathering ingredients and putting it all together.  We are looking forward to trying new recipes and can’t wait to start experimenting on a few ideas of our own!  That’s the great part of it all, creating memories during our Summer together and just maybe a brand new recipe will be born during our experimenting.

The clean up was simple and think the hardest part for my kiddos was not being able to eat the ice cream until we took the pictures, HA!

Here’s some more great retro inspired pieces you can find at your JCPenney Store (On Line and/or In Store).  Remember to subscribe to their site to receive insider Sales and Discounts!

What are YOUR favorite Summer memories?  Is there a recipe you’d like for us to try?  Do tell, as we’re having a hard time picking another one out!
